Are wood pellet stoves noisy?

In general, most modern pellet stoves are not noisy and should not be heard above normal back ground noises, however some brands/models are certainly noisier than others. We recommend that you choose a high quality model from a reputable wood pellet stove brand. Most wood pellet stoves are manufactured in Northern Italy which is probably the manufacturing capital of the world.
Beware of brands that simply attach their name to other brands of pellet stoves. This can be misleading, where they don’t actually have any part in their manufacture. If possible, call to a showroom or customer’s home to listen to it for yourself before purchasing.
It’s also important that your stove is set up correctly and during commissioning, the stove technician can make adjustments to your stove that make it run better and quieter.
If you're looking for a silent stove, there are a few things to look out for:
- Natural convection models - these can dissipate heat without the requirement of an ambient fan.
- Continuous loading - steady, continuous turning of the auger screw at low speed as opposed to intermittent loading which is slightly louder and more noticeable.
- Stoves that are built with heavier steel and quality fixings for aesthetical panels.
- Stoves that incorporate high-quality components throughout, especially motors and fans.
Of course, some of these features can be difficult to identify so our advice would be to avoid cheap models, talk to a trusted dealer and look out for features like natural convection and continuous motors.
